Little Big Econ State Forest
The Little Big Econ State Forest is a 10,278 acre tract, 7,651 acres of which are owned by the St. Johns River Water Management District. The forest runs along the Econlockhatchee River east of Oviedo and south of Geneva. Nearly 19 miles of the river either borders or passes through the forest.
The forest offers an abundance of recreation opportunities, with some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Florida. One of these is an rugged 8.9 mile section of the Florida Trail. In addition to other hiking trails, there is a 7.8 mile single-track mountain bike trail as well as 9.3 miles of horseback riding trails. Kayaking and canoeing are popular along the river and fishing is allowed along it's banks. Primitive camping is also allowed.
