The Black Hammock Wilderness Area is a 700 acre property located between Oviedo and Geneva purchased by Seminole County in order to preserve the habitat along the shores of Lake Jesup. There is a boardwalk to take you through the hammock habitat, along with a single loop trail totaling 4.5 miles. You can observe varying terrain from lush upland hammock to pine flatwoods. Wildlife you're likely to encounter include white-tailed deer, barred owl, eastern hog-nosed snake, and bobcat.
